Mission Statement  

The mission of Rio Tierra library media center is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.

Further, we:  

  • Believe that every student can learn.
  • Deliver effective information skills instruction through library/teacher collaboration.
  • Support the aims and objectives of the curriculum.
  • Support reading and reading development.
  • Inform students, staff, parents, and the community of the library's programs.

Role of the Library Media Center Program 

The library media program is a center of instruction and inter-disciplinary curriculum support for RTJHS.

The program will:  

  • Ensure fair and equitable access.
  • Promote flexible scheduling.
  • Meet a variety of learning needs.
  • Present diverse points of view.
  • Promote intellectual freedom.
  • Demonstrate optimal professional standards.
  • Participate in professional development and training.

Sacramento Lights Up the Capitol for World Diabetes Day

World Diabetes Day is a global awareness campaign that’s celebrated every year on November 14. Landmarks and monuments across the world are lit in blue to create a united voice for diabetes awareness. On Saturday, November 14, wear blue and join us on the west steps of the State Capitol as we light the Capitol building in blue and form a human circle.

Ice Rink

Midtown Ice Skating Rink

November 20, 2009-January 18, 2010

For the first time, Midtown will host an ice skating rink during the 2009-2010 winter season! The rink will be in a street closure extending from K Street to the alley between J and K. There will be 24/7 security presence at the rink.

Convenient parking garage available at  17th L Street (enter on 17th) only $2 evenings and weekends!!

There are public pay-lots at 1600 J Street, 2220 J Street, 1621 K Street, 1815 K Street,

~Bookings for private parties are available-- please call 916-442-1500 and speak to MBA staff for details.
